I am big into steel drum after seeing CJ Menge and the Inside Out Steel Band Festival about 4 years ago. Ron Carlisle and his son Michael were in it. I went and saw them and it was a BLAST. I said to myself: I NEED TO DO THAT. So I did.  Even though Q and I play a ton of different instruments, we have only managed to get together at steel band. We're both in the picture above that Darren Dyke took during our August recording session.

It's been a great ride so far. CJ is a great teacher and a great guy. Very funny. You will hear more about him on the Blab page as time goes by.

I am going to break down and finally get a set soon. I've ordered a set of low-E double seconds..

Below is a practice set of cellos Matt Ehlers lent me over the summer for our summer-end recording (pictured above). I love the cellos but the seconds will be a better stand-alone set.

I have ordered a set of low-E double seconds from Darren Dyke (http://www.pancycle.com). Expected completion date is mid-late April. Can't wait !

Festival concert with McCallum Knights of Steel is 4 March at 7 PM at McCallum High School.

Don't miss it !

What fun it was to be a part of this. It was (as usual) a huge wall of sound.

In late April I finally got my seconds. Happy day!

The Community Band finally got to play at One World Theater to commemorate Inside Out Steelband's non-profit organization status. And not just any guest artist - but Liam Teague!

He came to the practice space to do a run-through. How cool is that??

And a great show...
